Yuandong bubble ice is a legandary local brand for nearly 60 years. It is well-kown in north of Taiwan, Keelung, where its born. People from the place all had thier own childhood memorires with Yuandong Bubble Ice. In 2019, the brand got the investment and wanted to enlarge the business scale, so they came to us for a new visual strategy.
During the research, we noticed that their reputation was irreplaceable for the local people, this brand almost stands for the bubble ice itself. However, outside of the region there are very few people know as there are many brands claim the bubble ice was their invention, which wasn’t true. So we decided to start from this point, emphasizing their legandary history and the reputation from the existing the folks.
The brand visual identity was inspired by the newspaper layout. With all the different “comments” for this brand on the internet. To start with, We held an internet event to collect stories and words that discript the brand from people who has known the brand already for decades. And we used them as materials for the design, made it look like newspaper advertisement page. So it has a small portion of retro elements that resonate with the brand history while having a fresh look overall.
